Introducing the Duotone Foil Assist, an innovative solution that addresses the challenges of existing foil assist systems. This cutting-edge system is lightweight and seamlessly integrated, consisting of three fully integrated mast options, a harness with a battery box, and a watch ring remote. This setup keeps the battery weight close to your body, allowing you to foil with only little extra weight on your mast and board. Moreover, the Duotone Foil Assist offers increased torque and thrust, enabling you to get on foil even sooner and use smaller foil sizes. The unique remote design keeps your hands free, making it ideal for paddling, popping up, duck-diving, or holding a wing.
The Duotone Foil Assist is compatible with all foils, especially the Duotone Free, Glide, and Crest models, as well as all wing and prone boards featuring standard US foil tracks. To maximize battery runtime with your Foil Assist, we recommend using a front wing with a surface area of 900 cm2 or larger, along with a board that has a minimum volume of 35 L. We have developed a dedicated mid-length foilboard that offers extra benefits when paired with the assist mast. This versatility enables a broad range of applications, whether you're prone foiling in waves, wing foiling in light winds, cruising on flat water, or going for fun downwinders.
For newcomers, the Foil Assist simplifies the learning process, making it easier to get on foil and execute takeoffs in waves. Experienced riders will appreciate its ability to provide smoother rides with less effort, allowing them to avoid strenuous pumping when getting back out to catch the next wave. They will also be able to ride smaller foils, catch more waves, and tackle downwinders with ease while reaching swells farther from shore.

Drag-free design and easy setup
The motor pod is seamlessly integrated into the mast profile, with internally routed cables, ensuring optimal glide and maximum manoeuvrability. The modular motor pod allows for simple gear assembly and the motor is easily removable, attaching to all three offered assist mast options. The mast itself attaches to the board like a conventional foil mast, making the setup process easy.
High-performance motor with folding propeller and safety stop
The powerful motor delivers unparalleled torque and thrust of 33 kg. When the motor is engaged, the two folding propeller blades open instantly. Thanks to the integrated gear system, they unfold immediately - even underwater - ensuring a smooth, uninterrupted ride with no delays or need for restarting. As soon as the ring controller button is released, the propeller stops and closes instantly.
Compatibility
Our assist masts are compatible with foilboards from all brands that use standard US foil tracks. The AL masts can also be used with fuselages and wing sets from other brands through the fuselage adapters. We recommend using at least a 35 L mid-length board and a 900 cm2 front wing. Lighter and skilled riders will be able to ride down to their favorite foil size. However, please note that using smaller foils will consume more battery power.
Minimizing drag & weight
To keep the board-foil setup light and perfectly balanced, we have integrated the batteries into a lightweight buoyant waist harness. The ergonomic design of the harness allows for a full range of movement, making it ideal for extended or
high-performance sessions, while the plug-in battery system makes installation and swapping effortless. Additionally, the placement of the battery on the body offers another significant advantage: optimal signal transmission to and from the remote, resulting in consistent power output.
Watch Ring Remote
The Watch Ring Remote frees your hands for paddling, duck-diving, popping up or handling a wing. Its intuitive, safe, and ultra-responsive design ensures a natural and seamless riding experience, providing total freedom of movement.
High-performance, travel-ready batteries
Our lithium high-voltage batteries (LiHV) are specially designed for the Duotone Foil Assist system. With a capacity of 7 Ah and an energy content of 159.6 Wh - just under the 160 Wh limit - they comply with airline regulations. To operate the Foil Assist, two batteries are required. Depending on maintenance, these batteries can last between 450 to 650 cycles, providing an approximate runtime of 30 to 60 minutes, influenced by various factors.
Smart Charger – fast charging & battery protection
The Smart Charger charges the two batteries in approximately one hour, allowing you to get back on the water quickly. It features automatic power regulation, ensuring consistent performance and longevity for your batteries.
Midfish Foilboard
The Midfish Foilboard was specifically designed for the Foil Assist. Its extended fishtail design reduces drag, makes takeoffs easier, and enhances safety from the propeller and cable. The forward foil box position improves takeoff control and creates the feeling of riding a smaller board when foiling and carving.

Cyril Coste mastermind behind the Duotone Foil Assist
Cyril, a passionate water sports enthusiast from France and former professional kiteboarder, is the mastermind behind the innovative Duotone Foil Assist. With a decade-long career competing in the Freestyle discipline on the Kite World Tour, he transitioned to design and engineering while working for a kite company in Maui. Spoiled with world-class waves, Cyril also took up waveriding and eventually stand-up paddling to escape the crowds. In the early stages of foil development, he embraced kitefoiling and SUP foiling in waves, a time when prone and winging in waves didn’t yet exist.
Totally addicted to the feeling of foiling, Cyril began developing foils and shortly after conceived a simple yet groundbreaking idea: to create a lightweight electric foil assist that would allow users to enjoy the glide of foiling anywhere, including flat water. This vision was fueled by his desire to share the joy of foiling with others. Through relentless passion and innovation, he developed the concept behind the Foil Assist, ensuring it maintains the pure feel of foiling while overcoming the limitations of existing systems.
Now residing in Japan, Cyril leverages the local surf conditions for continuous product development and collaborates closely with Imai Homare, based in the R&D lab in Taiwan, and Terence Wang, our product manager, along with the Duotone R&D team located in Munich, Germany.
Our goal for the Duotone Foil Assist is simple: to share the exhilarating sensation of foiling with as many people as possible, ensuring that the Duotone Foil Assist opens the door to new adventures on the water.
