SHAPE DIFFERENCES ULTRA GRIP VS. GRIP
ROCKER LINE
From the straps back, the GRIP and ULTRA GRIP have very similar rockers. This allows both boards to perform super tight top turns.
GRIP
In the mid section between the mast-track and the nose, the GRIP has slightly less nose rocker.
> The lower front two-thirds of the GRIP allows the board to plain up earlier and at a tighter angle to the wind.
> It will also keep its momentum better at lower speeds more drawn out turns and rounder/flatter/ less powerful waves.
> Going down the line this lower front section puts you in a more upright position, making it easier to engage the front foot during bottom turns.
ULTRA GRIP
Features a higher rocker in front of the straps and at the nose, which means the board needs more power to maintain its speed.
> It requires a more powerful wave and/or wind.
> In marginal conditions, you will end up having to bare off the wind more to keep your speed. Therefore, it is less suitable for smaller onshore waves.
> However, on a powerful ground-swell wave, the board will push back less and tends to sink more into the wave. This gives you more control on a full rail turn and the board will want to turn harder the harder you engage it.

BOTTOM SHAPE
Both boards feature a V double-concave in the front for improved riding comfort, control going out and upwind performance.
GRIP
Maintains an alternating V throughout the entire length, making the board even more comfortable to ride.
ULTRA GRIP
The bottom transforms into a flat double concave underneath the feet and then a mono concave towards the tail, providing a crispier ride sensation.

OUTLINE
GRIP
Features a wider nose-area that generates more lift when deeper in the water and gives the rail more resistance when in the water, giving you more power/drive on smaller or less powerful surf.
ULTRA GRIP
Features a narrower nose outline that gives you more control during the bottom turn at higher speed in bigger ground-swell waves.

TAIL SHAPE
GRIP
Features a wider tail that provides better acceleration and more counter-pressure when jumping or during turns on slower waves.
ULTRA GRIP
Features a narrower tail that improves control in higher ground-swell waves.
