KT Solus Front Wing... Ultra High Modulus Carbon. Downwind Fun, Downwind Race, Wing, Surf, Foil Assist, Light wind. High efficiency front wing built for glide and acceleration, delivering race speed and stability in a more usable, fun, and versatile package. Fast when you want it, effortless when you need it.
The Solus was designed for fun but built to win. Created and designed by Kane de Wilde and proven in races worldwide, including the Koa Kai Championship, the foil began as an alternative to extreme high aspect race wings. Instead of chasing maximum aspect ratio and span at the expense of control, the goal was to build a foil that goes fast, accelerates effortlessly, and stays fun and manageable in everyday conditions, open ocean runs, and variable wind or swell. All Solus sizes share a consistent 14 aspect ratio geometry, striking a balance between glide and control while keeping spans manageable and surf friendly. Paired with a highly refined foil section, the Solus runs significantly faster and smaller than its surface area suggests without ever feeling too small or difficult to keep on foil.
Tuned for real world conditions, not just the racecourse.
This design philosophy has been proven in competition. Kane won Paddle Imua, Maui to Molokai, placed second at Molokai to Oahu, and secured the overall Koa Kai Triple Crown on a Solus 775 while many competitors were riding front wings closer to 500 cm2. It’s a foil built from race winning DNA, but tuned for riders who want speed, control, and pure enjoyment in real world conditions.
Solus is built around efficiency, control, and adaptability. Instead of chasing ultrahigh aspect ratios or relying on brute force stiffness, Kane focused on extracting speed through refined geometry and section design. The result is a foil that delivers race level performance while staying accessible, intuitive, and genuinely enjoyable for intermediate and advanced riders.
At the heart of the design is a reflexed center section that reduces pitch tension between the front and rear wings. This lets Solus run shorter fuselages and smaller rear wings without adding tail angle, unlocking lower drag, improved stability, and a setup that adapts easily across conditions.
From there, the center section transitions into thinner, more agile tips with increased camber. This sharpens handling, boosts ventilation resistance, and allows a steeper taper without sacrificing stability. The result is clean load transfer, confident carving, and a composed feel at speed or through surface disturbance.
Solus is designed to make fast foiling more usable. It rewards efficient riding, holds speed effortlessly, and turns everyday sessions into longer, faster, more controlled runs. It’s the kind of foil that makes you want to stay out for “just one more” every time.
SIZES
KT Solus Front Wing Sizes: Available in 565, 650, 775, 930, 1110 square centimeters.
565 cm². A small, fast option for powered conditions and lighter riders. It prioritizes speed and efficiency while staying manageable and easy to control, giving you a clean, confident feel even when fully powered up.
650 cm². A highspeed freeride and race size that stays composed when pushed hard. It thrives in stronger wind winging and fast ocean runs, delivering stability, efficiency, and total confidence at pace. Smooth, predictable, and locked in, it lets you push harder without ever feeling overpowered.
775 cm². The core Solus size and proven race platform. It delivers exceptional glide and speed for its area, making it versatile across a huge range of conditions and rider weights. Fast, efficient, and incredibly balanced, it’s the size that feels at home everywhere from flatwater training runs to open ocean races.
930 cm². High glide, high lift option for lighter winds, longer pump runs, or heavier riders. It adds lift and stability without giving up efficiency, making it easy to stay on foil, link bumps, and carry speed through transitions with less effort.
1110 cm². Maximum glide, maximum efficiency size for light wind winging, Foil Assist, and riders who want effortless speed and low effort cruising. It lifts early, carries momentum with almost no input, and turns marginal conditions into long, easy, fast runs.
